We, the people of Zimbabwe welcome the decision by the government to open the airwaves to other players as progressive.
This will afford the general populace of Zimbabwe the privilege to tune to the station of their choice. This is what the freedom of choice is all about, rather than being subjected to one station.
In view of this is it constitutional for the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) to collect fees for the listeners' licences from the public when they are no longer the only station that people listen to?
I consider this an unfair practice that ZBC needs to stop doing forthwith.
I would like to hear the views of the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Cde Jonathan Moyo, on the matter.
