From Queen Mary House:

On he 7th February I sent an email to my Liaison Officer in Harare Zimbabwe .

First complaint was about the iniquitous bank charges.. In Zimbabwe we are charged US$4.95 + vat .05 total $5 for all transfers to another bank . As there is no liquidity in Zimbabwe we had no option but to do RTG transfers. We then moved to Internet banking but there was no reduction in the fee.. Most banks in Zimbabwe charge $3 for electronic transfers but not Standard Chartered, On top of this fee we are charged a maintenance fee and a Service fee.
I queried this and was very unsatisfied with the response of "that's our policy".

Secondly I asked for details on what certain bank charges were for in my January statement, Specifically. When creating a beneficiary on the 11 the January I went into he pre set up system to select a bank account.. The transfer was reversed and I was subsequently told that the account number in he system was incorrect .. The transaction was for $36 and the fee charged for this error that was not my fault was $27.10.. I have yet to have a response some 4 months later.

The account held is for Queen Mary House an old age home in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Our bank charges have gone from a minimal US$ 30 to nearly US$200 per month.
